my day reliving my childhood...

i spent the day in central park first at a section that reminded me of the tuileries then i ventured through making random lefts and rights until i came across the children’s zoo. i stayed there for an hour or so until i continued my way through the park. i decided to pick up a salted pretzel and then while i was walking with my delicious pretzel i stumbled across a woman playing with puppets crowded around by 20 or so kids. i took my seat among them and watched a ballerina dance and a magician pull flowers out of his miniature hat. it was magnificent. after the amazing entertainment i walked a little further until i sat on a park bench where a man was playing fairy tale and children’s songs on the accordion…

rockwood music hall

so it is my last show for the rockwood residency this thursday at 8… it has been so much fun! if you all are free you should stop by. it is 196 allen street! if you do not know this venue here in new york… you should really look into it! ken rockwood is a great guy who loves music and started the venue to be a place where artists can develop themselves!

check it out! www.rockwoodmusichall.com

be well!!! it is spring time!!! finally!!! it’s been really beautiful here in new york!

kaki king shows

so we just got back this morning from baltimore! we had so much fun playing with kaki king.. it started wednesday night at the bowery ballroom, then we rented a van and drove to philadelphia where we played at the world cafe live, slept in a really dirty motel (i mean really dirty… won’t go into details), drove to baltimore to play at the 8X10 and then drove back to new york. we arrived in baltimore a few hours before sound check so we walked around and came across a magic store.. we had to go in! we hung out with the owner and his son who performs the magic! it was awesome!!

so for now we have two more gigs this month at the rockwood music hall this thursday and next thursday at 8!! i love this venue so i am really excited about it! maybe see some of you guys there!

day one

hello everybody!!!

hope all is well.. i have decided to start a blog.. it has been on m mind for sometime now but after long thought i have moved forward and here i am writing my first post.

i am back in new york after five or so days in the craziness of austin for sxsw! my band flew down there to play at stubb’s on tuesday (THANKS TO OURSTAGE and PASTE). it was very weird.. we had no idea what stubbs was until we arrived. i told some friends of mine who had been to sxsw about where we were playing and each time their response was excitement but i didn’t understand why. i didn’t realize until we got there that stubb’s is a large outdoor amphitheatre where REM played the following night. It was an incredible experience starting with a relaxed soundcheck to the sun setting while we were playing. the line up was awesome as well! after we played it was kaki king, addictive tv, and moby.

it was funny because we had a show a few days later in south austin.. (20 min in a cab from downtown) so no one was there except about four people. so tuesday we had a great audience, environment, etc and then thursday we were thrown right back into reality! it was perfect!

i flew back last night and had a connection in atlanta.. there was an electrical storm so close to the plane! i was freaking out… i looked over to my left and every second there were huge flashes of lightning spreading across the sky… oh man i had to take lots of deep breaths to keep myself calm until i couldn’t see the lightning anymore.

but here i am back on the ground…
