What started with dj SOE, b.dub and hiphop crew GreenHouse Fresh Produce has evolved into the full band vibe that is SDS. In March 2008 the Summit crew released their debut album - High Elevation Sound Flavor - inna DIY, independent style. Flagstaff, Irie-Zona is the home of the band and the air up here at 7,000 feet is crucial to their elevated stylings - "the city too hot, I-Man gonna cool out, up on the mountain top!" This sky island situated in the Four Corners region of the Southwestern US is bound by unparalleled beauty and high desert culture, both of which make their way into the Summit Dub sound. The crew's first big show was opening for reggae legend Joseph Hill and Culture. That was the stepping off point and since then the crew has transformed from a turntable and drum machine-based project into a full-fledged stage band while maintaining their ruff and rugged tao style. Their music seems to transcend genre, blending hiphop with reggae, funk with dub, dance with listen. The crew has warmed stages for other touring acts such as The B-Side Players, Lyrics Born and On The One. SDS also played for The Longest Walk 2 as they came through Flagstaff (a Native American/environmental rights awareness ceremony-the walkers are walking from San Francisco to Washington DC over the next few months) and were the headline act at this year's Earth Day event in Wheeler Park. In 2008 SDS performed at 4 Music Festivals (Telemagica, Jerome, Flagstaff and Mesilla Valley's 1st Annual Good Vibe Music Festival) and many other shows are filling up the schedule fast.
