If you didn’t get a chance to experience the renewal and excitment of the New Year in the U.S., (I feel asleep at 11pm) now is your chance to make up for it 10 fold. Tonight is the Lunar New Years Eve, business will be closed for 5 of the 10 day holiday, the streets are flooded with visitors and locals alike, taking part of the extravagant street decor, including sculptures, motes, bridges, lanterns, lights, creative artistic pieces and flowers, flowers, flowers! The streets are busy well past 2am, just blocks from my hotel, and feel safer than ever. I am always posting pictures on facebook and myspace, so keep checking back : )
I have been meeting local families that live behind markets full of fresh produce, raw meet, sparkly shoes and motorbikes, slowly collecting important Vietnamese words, (such as divorce, spider and banana,) and falling in love with the new ancient culture.
