Sumac’s Entertainment Bio
Sumac was born and raised in Arkansas and have been pumping up the Blues, R&B, Jazz and Gospel all over the states. She has developed into her own style of soul and blues singing, wowing crowds with her exciting live shows.
Sumac has opened for the great Millie Jackson in 1988, in 1991, she was honored to sing with Ray Charles as the City of Richmond, CA presented him the Key to the City, she has toured Montego Bay, Jamaica and Cozumel, Mexico and was the featured vocalist for the Oakland Raiders returning to Oakland singing a National Broadcasting song “Let’s Hear It for the Raiders”. A photo of Sumac is also posted in the United Kingdom (UK) magazine featuring Blues artists around the world. She was the opening act for Lenny Williams and also, headlined the following day at the 21st Rivertown Jamboree Festival - 2006 in Antioch, CA,
Since then, in 2002, Sumac formed her own soulful sounds of Sumac’s Soul Heaven Band performing live shows at clubs, venues and festivals throughout Northern California.
She entered Memphis, TN with her band to compete in the 22nd 2006 International Battle of the Blues Challenge competing against hundreds of bands from around the world representing Sacramento Blues Society winning the Semi-Finalist spot.
Sumac has performed at various events throughout the years, such as Fillmore Jazz Festival, in San Francisco, CA, Roseville Friday Night Live TV Shows, Roseville, CA, Prewett Water Park Concert Series, the headliner for the 20th Rivertown Jamboree Festival, Antioch, CA, Black Diamond Blues Festival, Pittsburg, CA, Vallejo’s Farmers Market, Vallejo, CA, Monterey Battle of the Blues Band, Monterey, CA, Hard Rock Café, B. B. King’s Club and Sweet Willie’s, Memphis, TN, Motor City Casino, Detroit, MI, Jazzy, Little Rock, AR just to name a few.
In 2009 she sponsored and promoted her 1st Annual Blues Benefit and Festival in her hometown of Bigelow, AR.
