Stormcellar are an electric Blues outfit from the dimly lit alleys of Sydney’s Inner West, playing sounds that hearken back to the heady days of the 60’s and 70’s Blues Rock explosion.
Taking their cues from the likes of the Allman Brothers, Canned Heat, Creedence and the proto-Blues/Rock magma of the Chicago Harp style, Stormcellar are punching out back catalogue sounds that seem to have been scooped up by the winds of the late seventies and dropped in Oz. We’re not in Kansas any more, Toto!
Their debut Album ‘Whiskey Talkin’ showcases original songs with a Blues pedigree, the kind of music you just didn’t think people made any more; That foot tapping music that took Blues out of the backstreets and into the mainstream.
Stormcellar are taking their live act where Blues bands fear to tread, from Indy City Gigs to the Coasts, Clubs, Pubs and rock loving ‘Burbs, as well as the hard core traditionalist venues. Some have never heard it. Some think it sounds like something they once heard. Some of them recognise it straightaway. Some torch our car. How Blues can you get?
