Our Debut Album “Ruckus”

When you think of modern day southern rock n roll, the band that’s going to come to everyone’s mind is, State Line Mob.Their bluesy-country southern rock, guitar weaving line-up is a Southern image that’s hard to forget.State Line Mob was formed in 2007 by vocalists/songwriters Phillip Crunk and Dana Crunk. They both previously played for years in different bands, while cutting their teeth in some of the south’s most dangerous and run down honkytonk-taverns, where they learned the true meaning of southern grit and tough determination.

Their name “State Line Mob” came to them because of a real Dixie-crime organization that existed on the Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee border that operated illegal gambling halls and whiskey distilleries, amongst other numerous criminal activities, in the backwoods of these great states before being run out by Sheriff Buford Pusser and his posse back in the 60’s & 70’s era. The band will not comment on whether the State Line Mob still exists or whether they have any affiliation with this underground organization. The band performed in 2008 at The 20th Anniversary Buford Pusser Festival in his honor in Adamsville,Tn.

State Line Mob released their debut album “Ruckus” to the world, & left many saying early in 2008,that they would have the best album of the year as well as having the best Southern Rock album since Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Street Survivors” way back in 1977.To S.L.M., those were great compliments to have been given to them.At the end of 2008,they proved it by winning two Muscle Shoals Music Awards for Best new artist of the year & for Best new country album of the year! They even went as far as performing several shows throughout the year with one of Skynyrds own, JoJo Billingsley"original Honkette backup singer",who is now a dear friend of thiers. If you think this is all hyperbole, then just listen to the album. For 2009,they have re-released Ruckus as a Limited Edition with a bonus track featuring their song “Me and General Lee,celebrating with fans 30 years of the Dukes of Hazzard & the most Famous car in the world,”The General Lee".

The band’s country outlaw sound is updated for this decade & era. Three guitars batter you while leaders Phillip Crunk and Dana Crunk trade off on vocals and sing for you southern harmony. The album deals with subjects as diverse as a southern man’s pride in his 70 Charger in “American Beauty” and the plight of the State Line Mob against the law itself in “McNairy County Line”. Clever tracks abound, the best of which are “Hooked”, "It Keeps Me Going”, “Holding You”, and “Who Do You Love.” With “Ruckus,” they have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in American music. The song “Baby I miss You” is straight-ahead Southern boogie, whereas “Southern Comfort” is the essence of Southern soul. Most of the tracks embody country-fried blues-rock and driving, arena-ready southern rock, that will leave no listener disappointed. Paraphrasing the title of one of the album’s songs, “I Need Rock and Roll.” Fortunately, you don’t need a bottle of Jack or even a trace of Southern lineage to appreciate the genius of “Ruckus".

Hi to you!

I’ve just posted a song which I wrote, called “Free." "Free" received a Gold Auddy™ award on November 1, 2009 on uPlaya.com in recognition that the underlying patterns of this song are similar to songs that have become hits in the past. The lyrics advocate for hard work and prayer to counter adverse life experiences, charitable treatment of others, tolerance for differences of beliefs, optimism, self-defined self-worth, personal power and even the "holiness" that comes with focusing on one's positive values and actions. The values expressed in this song are timeless.

As you may know, I also posted a song called “Dumbing it Down” which I just entered in the Soft Rock contest for November 2009. It highlights the songwriter’s need for authenticity and integrity in song composition, an ideal difficult to achieve the more commercial the interests of the songwriter. The song implies that if songwriters stick to writing about what they know from life’s experiences and try to be a positive force in the world, they may experience less personal stress, despite possible income loss.

I hope you love both! Much love and success to you and many thanks for your help in supporting these songs chances of success.
