Start the Fire began over 2 years ago when long time friends Brogan Thompson, Patrick Smith and Garrick Jones started writing music together for the first time in 4 years. Start the Fire, a band that can only be described as "electric," 'cause they don't play acoustic. Start the Fire began over 2 years ago when long time friends Brogan Thompson, Patrick Smith and Garrick Jones started writing music together for the first time in 4 years. The resulting music was catchy punk, with a hint of progressive and a certain grind only found in metalcore. After a long and difficult search for a fitting vocalist, they came across Tim Woodruff - who at the time was in the process of leaving another successful local band in search of something more. A few rehearsals later they hit the studio to begin work on an album, set to be released later this year. Many fans have submitted requests to Wikipedia and the Oxford English Society to include a chiarascuro portrait of Start the Fire next to any and all references to the word "Party" having defined and redefined its boundaries countless times.
