MILLERGRAY consists of two members who each use multiple instruments as well as other imagination driven creation devices such as vocal and other forms of recorded sounds to make their songs. Jason Miller (also known as the solo artist SOULRECORDER), formally trained as a fine art photographer and multimedia artist, primarily writes all lyrics and sings all vocals. David Gray is deeply rooted in both the 12 and 6 string guitar in both the electric and acoustic mode; as well he also uses synthesizers, piano, percussion, etc. The vision of these two individuals first began in 1993 as a union of two souls where each released his heart in his own special way all in the name of creating spontaneous and raw music. They evolved into a two-piece band that uses strong poetical content mixed with enchanted melodies to hint toward the darker and more fragile side of human existence. Many of their works remain unreleased to the public because the two members do not believe in commercial radio-success or the American Idol plague that has crossed America from coast to coast. They live to give life to creation, they make art, and that alone is their acknowledged reward for their efforts. They are not interested in worldly acclaim or "rock star attention", but rather each looks towards life itself as an ever-changing energy that must be embraced into a harmonious mystery instead of a competition or overtly mechanical conquest. In short, this band transmits signals of communication, not to make money, but rather to reach and unite people in spiritual freedom throughout the world.(Video performance and vocal only works) SOULRECORDER creates music that is rough around the edges, scratching, raw, often I will record in a forest or in the midst of a sculpture or photographic installation I have created.We never turn down an invitation to travel to Europe or Central America to play for the great people all around the world, and no forest or bar is too small. Woody Guthrie played to a small gathering of people beneath an umbrella, and that is a good symbol to which we relate. Even a single person is enough to play for and when none are around we play for the creatures and the great Creator.
