Born in Brazil, Socrates grew up with his grandparents and began singing as a little boy until he decided to study in a music school as a teenager. Being from a prominent family of lawyers and doctors, music was totally out of the question. He eventually gave in to the family pressure and attended college for dentistry, and music remained a hobby for Socrates. Unsatisfied with the study of dentistry where he had practice on cadavers, he decided to quit and follow his dream of being a musician and singer in the place where his favorite rock stars were born, the United States. He found Musicians Institute in Los Angeles California to be the perfect place to start his career where he completed his associates of arts degree. He always liked to write poetry, but once he started in music school, he began putting that poetry to music and eventually writing songs in English. The style that suits his voice and original material is the Pop/Rock and Pop, similar to artist such as Chris Daughtry, 3 Doors Down, Creed, Jason Mraz. In his music and lyrics the influence of american and brazilian music can be identified. For Socrates, music always has the invisible power to touch ones heart, to help us relive memories and experiences in our lives. This great power made him thirsty to learn music and to connect with others and gave him the strength to pursue his dream.
