Rob Michael Cohen is a songwriter from Chicago. He started writing at age 11. Greatly influenced by 60's and 70's Rock & Roll as well as Jazz of the 40's and 50's, Rob Michael sums it all up in this his first effort: "SURVIVAL CHLD" 11 original tunes in a self proclaimed new "Razz" style - a combination of classic Rock and Roll with old school Jazz overtones and progressions.
Rob Michael has written over 100 songs, recorded 17 originals and is releasing his 2nd album: "Houston Jazz" - 6 original vocal numbers on which he performs all the music himself in the studio PLUS a mystery cover :) The record also features vocals by Damon Navari and flute and vocals by Michelle Basch plus a guest appearance by Fred Chandler playing lead guitars on Rob's highly speculative "mystery cover."
What is "Razz" music?
It’s NOT fusion. The Razz style incorporates melodic verse in Bebop, Swing and other era rhythms that meander in and out crossing boundaries that previous defied categorization.
