C.D. Smith aka Smokey Lane was born and raised in Compton Ca. A child prodigy, beginning to play at age 2...surrounded by a musical family it was inevitable the music would be an intricate part of his life. He began to perform at family functions in a family based band, moving on to band within his elementary and high school years. After a stint in the Navy he saw his musical path was clear…. He formed various groups including a hip hop group called the da wood chuccz And Milineum Mindz. He began writing poetry in 2008 and was featured on the record breaking poetry over Music volume 3.He has also produced and composed for some of the following recording artists, Bad Influece,Mando,Flash,bre roc, and Mack flossi,Nockturnal,Unknown,West bound and a host of other indie artists. Not just a recording artist but a musician who has mastered Bass, lead guitar,keyboards,drums,trombone,trumpet and asubaphone,as well as harmonica. He is well known for his prolific grasp on instrumentation and melodic progression and suits each artist individually and personally, always keeping the needs of the artists first, this is his strongest suit. His writing is influenced by life experience, observation and personal struggles and triumphs. Which it scheduled for release in fall 2009. He is currently working on projects that include but are not limited to his debut solo album entitled ,’The legend of Charles” and also producing various spoken word artists such as Epiphany~,Jason M Tucker,Amina 1316and Eddie Oliver…He is currently in negations for scoring a film and possibly compose the music for several theatre projects. The future for smoke Meezy seems to be a path laid out before him with endless possibilities.
