Silk Attraction; the alternative/indie rock band out of Richmond, Virginia; has been steadily gaining a buzz among music listeners thirsty for a new sound. Their high-energy live shows kicked-up with the infectious vocals of their front woman, Jenna B., has gained a solid local and regional following that is growing larger by the week. After marketing countless demos and other merchandise out into the world via live shows and simply walking the streets and campuses meeting more hungry music lovers, avid fans eagerly await the arrival of their first full-length venture, “All Is Not Well”. Jenna B. remarks, “We have worked so hard on this and have ultimately taken our time to make sure it is exactly what we want it to be. If we are proud of the finished product, then we hope the listeners will enjoy it as well.” This upcoming record is symbolic of the passion and hard work ethic Silk Attraction consistently has put forth for the past 3 years.
Jenna B. first met guitarist, Del Wilhite, while attending the same high school in Virginia. The jam sessions were not planned, and more-so simply stumbled upon, but the connection of styles was instant. They continued to play for each other’s own satisfaction, finding it fun to just get together on a weekend night and combine what the other was working on; Jenna’s vocals and endless creative journal entries put to Del’s infectious guitar melodies. In 2003, Jenna and Del were introduced to Chris Rose (drums) through a mutual friend and decided put a band together. They teamed up with Chris’ fellow college student and friend, Jimi Campbell (bass), to become the fourth and final member of the band.
Over the next couple years, creating new music while diligently and tirelessly practicing their craft lead to the final line-up that was named “Silk Attraction” in September 2005. They were soon invited to record their first demo with Bruce Olsen (produced GWAR, among other notable acts) at the established Richmond studio staple, Sound Dog studios. Self-funding production of the demo and other tangible goods, Silk Attraction sold out demos at every show, along with t-shirts and other merchandise. The fans instantly connect with the unique and powerful rock sound, along with the infectious live shows. One fan remarked, “They put on such a fun show! They always seem to give every ounce of energy they have to make sure everyone in the audience is rockin’ out as much as they are. Silk Attraction is amazing!”
After countless gigging with bands such as their good friends, Hydrovibe (Saw III soundtrack), and up-and-coming national act, Friday Night Gunfight, as well as distribution offers on the table, they are pushing and itching to take their music to the next level. Silk Attraction is quickly on their way to national rock stardom.
