Biography

"Field hockey’s loss, music’s gain. The choice made by Sherri-Anne to pursue her true passion, music, over her developing status as a star athlete is one for which music lovers can be grateful. "Field hockey’s loss, music’s gain. The choice made by Sherri-Anne to pursue her true passion, music, over her developing status as a star athlete is one for which music lovers can be grateful. The B.C.-based singer/songwriter has just released a stunningly accomplished debut album, Love, Light, Life!, and it fully vindicates a decision she made only recently. It was while attending Northwestern University in Chicago on a field hockey scholarship that Sherri-Anne‘s new career path developed. She met a kindred spirit in the form of Bird (Megan Sieberg), a fellow hockey-playing songstress. Armed with songs mostly written during her sojourn in the Windy City, Sherri-Anne and producer Tom Stinson set up shop at Cabin Fever Studio in the scenic environs of the Okanagan Valley. A skilled team of players complement the fluent acoustic and electric guitar stylings of both Sherri-Anne and Stinson, and Love, Light, Life! is the thrilling result." - Hype Music, Toronto ONT The new "Love Light Life" album has since aired on CBC radio and topped the CFBX Radio charts summer of 2009, hitting 1 in late June, and 3 for all genres. Sherri-Anne was also featured on Global TV's morning News cafe. Recently, Sherri-Anne has teamed up with San Diego's Samantha Cathcart for several tours. The two muses have spread their powerful, honest music throughout the continent, playing at some of Chicago's, Vancouver's and San Francisco's best music clubs including Martyrs', Railway Club and Hotel Utah respectively. They have also performed at festivals, wineries and a variety of other venues throughout Canada and the U.S.A, often in support of non-profit organizations in need. The duo has now collaborated to form their new music project, "Sister Speak," fronted by both artists, and often backed by an astounding rhythm section. Sister Speak combines elements of Acoustic Rock, Blues & World. Extensive touring through Canada and the USA is in the works for this young Canadian charm and her exceptionally talented San Diego counterpart. Their contagious presence leaves audiences inspired, refreshed, and mesmerized! "Crimson is the color of her music. At once deep and delicate, it is as raw as it is thought out. If you listen too long, you'll fall in love." Nicole Torres, NICO RECORDS, Denver CO "The official CD Release will be held Oct 19th in Chicago at Martyrs, the same place where the famous Missy Higgins played last October and inspired Sherri-Anne to no end to seriously pursue music. The Chicago duo is known for packing the house regularly with their contagious presence..." - NORTH MANCHESTER FREELANCE "The Womynz Voice was started in Berkeley, CA and it’s all about creating a space for women to share their voices," explains Sherri-Anne, "and part of it is about the millennium development goals, which include gender equality and women’s empowerment." - Glenna Turnbull, KELOWNA CAPITAL NEWS "I love the new album! We have put “Where Have You Gone” and “Love, Light, Life" in rotation. " -2B, RADIO CHICAGO
