Portrait of Sherita

Sherita Hip- Hop/Rap Artist

Sherita, was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She began writing lyrics in elementary school, using this as a way to escape her surroundings. Writing raps, Sherita found her protection, her shield, her way out. During childhood Sherita and her older sister formed a rap group called “Ole School” Sherita being “Sweet Ree-Ree” and her older sister “Easy T”. Together they would take on any battle (rap) with other teens in and around the neighborhood. They participated in several events around the neighborhood. They participated in different events around the city, school talent shows, boys and girls club, park events, even gospel concerts.
Suffering many hardships but battled it all, simply by believing that dreams can come true and by putting faith in her dreams. Sherita went Solo and represented a sexy, rugged man-driven look that wasn’t new to the music world and included rivals foxy Brown, Lil Kim and Trina. Her music style drove a more controversial issue due in part to her rebellious nature, sexual lyrics and profanity filled tracks. A direct response to the male-dominated rap industry that was known for disregarding women in many hit songs. Sherita possesses a presence and persona the looms and continues to effortlessly captivate, seduce, provoke and entertain. She has used a painful past and relationships to inspire her work.
Surrounding herself with an up and coming creative production team out of Detroit, Mich. Sherita set out to get even with everybody who didn’t believe in her. I believe in myself; I just needed people around to bring that out. Im the happiest I’ve been in awhile. I want people to know, I’m a real person who goes through real things and I’m still growing like everyone else. Sherita released her first Debut Album What B**ches Wont Say! and a Mix tape Promotional. She’s recorded with Demo’s, The Disc, Jiggy Records plus several other basement studio’s. Currently Sherita’s working with up and coming top producers, T Church, Diamond Dog and Poe Whosaine. The result is a stellar collection that shows Sherita’s Lyrical prowess and versatility, as well as her growth as a businessperson, as a woman, as an artist. Sherita’s work takes the listener on a journey from the streets to the clubs, to the heart of a woman who has experienced the extremes of life. Sherita has grown from one of Hip-Hop’s unknown to one of the most well rounded, insightful artists.
