Sephirias, in its original incantation, was formed by lead guitarist/vocalist Neil Davis, drummer Jordan Marsengill, and bassist Jacob Wilson. The three members spent time jamming coverse, never really seeking a higher calling under that formation. After a brief hiatus, the band returned with the exclusion of Wilson, and the addition of Seth Woods on guitar and Manny de la Oca on bass and vocals, a version which parted ways soon due to creative differences. After another period of downtime, the band reformed once again, with bassist Jeff Dean. Dean was asked to leave due to problems with the material's difficulty, and Wilson was recruited once again. Soon after, guitarist Kevin Fowler, also of local band ROBO, joined the group. The band immediately had chemistry, and began working together well. Within 2 weeks, the band was signed up for the Battle of the Bands, which took place on March 3, 2007. The band began playing original material, which has a sound of its own. A masterful mix of death metal, progressive influences, tempo changes and acoustic breakdowns, Sephirias has quickly become a band to watch. Sephirias made its debut show on March 3rd 2007 at the Habersham Central Battle of the Bands. Opening with a scorching cover of Black Sabbath's War Pigs, the band tore through a 30 minute, 3 song set, leaving the crowd speechless and in awe. Heralded as a band that "is going places" with "engertic band members loving every minute of it" and being led by "commanding frontman" Neil Davis, the band is just getting started. The show went off without a hitch, and the band walked away with second place. Following the departure of original bassist Jacob Wilson, Brad Holland of well-known local bands Prominent Soul and The Blood Roses joined the ranks. After many months of metal, mayhem and good times, Holland and the band parted ways. Holland rejoined former band mates Joe Higgens and Matt Turner in Autumn Sky, and bassist Josh Broner, former roadie for the band was tapped as bass player. With the one year anniversary of the band looming ahead, and a second appearance at the HCHS Battle of the Bands coming, Sephirias has stepped up their game once again. New songs, new members and a new approach is in the works. The band continues to soldier on, striving for musical excellence, always keeping the music first and foremost in their path. March 8th marked the bands second appearance at the HCHS Battle of the Bands. The band, with the return of bassist Brad Holland, appeared third on the bill and played to the 2nd largest crowd of the night. Sephirias walked away with their first win, which they shared as a tie with local southern rock veterans Vinyl. After this show, Brad Holland returned to the band as full time bass player. The band has begun work on new material which they plan to unveil at future shows. During mid April, Sephirias parted ways with original guitarist Kevin Fowler. The split was amicable, and the band continues on with new guitarist, former roadie Dalton Dodd taking Fowler's spot. Dodd's live debut is set for April 26th at the Sapphire Theater in Clarkevsille, where the band will be playing with local legends and great friends October Frequency.
