Crissi Cochrane (formerly known as Save September)
At the age of sixteen, Crissi Cochrane began performing as a solo singer/songwriter under the pseudonym, Save September. Influenced by her father, she first picked up the guitar at age ten. Nine years and countless shows later, Crissi has released a five-song CD available to the public titled the Bathroom EP (as it was recorded over the course of ten hours in a bathroom on a laptop). This has sold over five hundred copies both over the internet (internationally) and at shows since its debut in December 2006, and every element of it is handmade – from the posterboard cases to the individually-collaged covers and the stencilled CD designs.
Recently, Crissi has shed her stage name and performs under her given name. She has shared the stage with well-known musicians such as Rob Szabo, Amelia Curran, Michou, The Reason, and Ten Second Epic. In October of 2007, she took part in the Halifax Pop Explosion, playing a showcase at the Khyber with The Most Serene Republic (Arts and Crafts) and The Zoobombs (from Tokyo, Japan). In May of 2008, she embarked on her first tour, taking her show to Toronto and back. Crissi is currently a student at NSCC’s Waterfront Campus in the Music Business program, and plans to hit the road as soon as possible.
It seems that what originally began as a side project has now become Plan A as Crissi takes her music to a new level, evolving as a writer and nurturing her growing fan base. Great things can be expected to come from this talented and refreshing songstress.
