Sam Chase is a Boston based singer/songwriter whose music blends folk, rock and country into a smooth melodic sound. His music will bring to mind artists such as James Taylor, Marc Cohn and Jason Mraz, but the result is something entirely original.

What makes Sam stand out among other singer/songwriters in Boston is his broad range of musicianship. At 8 he started on the piano like so many, then gravitated toward the drums a few years later. It wasn’t until 7th grade that he picked up the guitar and later on, in high school, started to focus on singing. As high school came and went, the next logical choice was music school, and there happened to be a pretty good one right in Boston. While attending Berklee College of Music (’08) Sam studied the drums as his primary instrument. (After listening to some of his music, you can clearly see how his command of rhythm influences the way he plays his other instruments.) At Berklee Sam found himself involved in the Music Production and Engineering program and, when accepted, found his niche as a producer right away. This led to his focus in songwriting and ultimately, the release of his debut album Songs For Someone, which he not only produced but recorded much of it as well.

In his debut release, Sam introduces us to music that is mainstream yet intelligent, catchy but musically interesting. Think of the storytelling of James Taylor mixed with the pop sound of Jason Mraz. The combination of musicianship and songwriting chops reveal a product that is way beyond the expectations of an artist just making their debut release. And at such a young age (23), expect to be hearing a lot from this very talented musician in the years ahead.
