COLDCHAIN is more than just an up start artist under the Neptune's Star Trak label, he's their franchise player. Not entirely named after Roscoe P. Coltrane of the Dukes of Hazard fame, COLDCHAIN'S name is a bit more evolved. "ROSCO was a name given to me by the street for carrying them things. P, P is for my surname. And COLDCHAIN, that's just about holding your own. Delivering it. You know, doin' you". Delivery is something COLDCHAIN has perfected. In fact, it's what got him his deal with Star Trak. He was at video shoot in his hometown of North Philadelphia supporting fellow Philly artists, and wound up spittin his tales of a "HAZARDOUS LIFE" for Pharrell Williams. He was in a cipher picking off anyone standing there willing to spit. After the carnage, he was asked by Williams' "Do not let anyone else sign you. I got you". COLDCHAIN didn't think anything of it. "In my mind, at the end of the day, I wasn't even a rapper. I was just better at it then everyone else there." It took a little time, but two years later Pharrell kept his word. COLDCHAIN was signed to Star Trak. Not wanting to follow the sounds of the Neptunes too closely, COLDCHAIN'S album "HAZARDOUS LIFE" consists of more than their infectious beats. He brought on mega-producers DJ Premiere (GangStarr), Kanye West, FAT!N, Alchemist,The Co-op's, Felony and The Matrax among others to create his own resonance on his work in progress. Being the franchise player he can not rest his fame on the shoulders of his label, COLDCHAIN prides himself on being his own man, and it shows in his rhymes. His lyrics are mostly personal experiences, so real in fact, at times they might seem a bit violent. "They're gritty. I say it how it is." But thug life isn't the album's encompassing theme-there're a few tracks for the ladies. "You gotta have love for the ladies", something he's no stranger to. One of those tracks features Pharrell crooning his ass off. This track is an open letter to a female entitled "SICK OF GOING TO WAR". A timeless classic. Like the crowd at HBO's Def Poetry (Episode Six) who just could not get enough of him. Or the powerful response he receives every time he is sharing the stage with the Clipse, N*E*R*D, Ghostface Killa, The Re-Up Gang, 50 Cent, FamLay, The RocAfella family among others. They just can't get enough. Most recently he was featured on BET's RAP CITY. And even though it's still in the making, the hype surrounding his album is increasingly immense. Rosco is a sought-after commodity in the rat race of hip-hop. He tells it like it is. His music is a staple in this ever-changing rap world. Even his name is one that just can not be forgotten. What he stands for is paramount. "I write the truth, and for those people who don't like it, FUCK 'EM!"
