Rogue Sound 2008 – Matt, Otis, ST. Nick, Mingus, Chachi
Rogue Sound is a Live-Band-Hip-Hop group out of Boulder Colorado. RS produces a positive-minded set with a style as unique as the bands four members. Their influences of Reggae, Funk, Hip-Hop, Jazz and Rock ’n Roll provide a good vibe and atmosphere guaranteed to make the audience shake it’s booty on the dance floor. The combination of both English and Spanish lyrics, along with the smooth blend of various music styles spread the message of unity that the band strives to convey. The Rogue Sound experience is a celebration of the interconnectivity of life through music…
Rogue Sound has deep roots in Colorado as most of its members grew up in Boulder; some of their friendships go as far back as high school. The groups force sprouted here and has since grown into a vigorous entity. Founding members, Drummer/MC Matt Smart, Guitarist Mingus Fine, and Master of Ceremony St. Nick have played together in many different bands. Their projects together include Velour in the early days, as well as Sleight of Hand, QuinTerra and Satellite in the late 90’s. The trio also worked together as Hodge Podge and The Rebel Allies in the 21st Century, and has been rocking spots as Rogue Sound since mid 2000. Rogue Sound has played such venues as, The Fox Theatre (20x), The Aggie Theater, The Starlight Theater, Trilogy Lounge (now The b.side Lounge), Round Midnight, Mishawaka Amphitheatre, Glen Miller Ball Room, 8150, Cervante’s, Quixote’s, and Owsley’s, as well as many other clubs all over Colorado. Rogue Sound has shared the stage with National Acts such as, Eek A Mouse, Kool Keith, Guru of Gang Starr and Jazzamatazz, The Rebirth Brass Band, The Itals, The Samples, The DragonFlys Feat. Jimmy Herring and Rob Barraco, Granola Funk Express, and Rocker-T. Some members of Rogue Sound have studied and played music as far away as Mexico, Jamaica, and Europe, which also contributes to their many musical styles, and flavors that enthralls each venue they play. Bassist Otis Lande, and Trombone player Andrew McNew a.k.a. Chachi Marone, both have an extensive music education, experience and skill and have rapidly become intrinsic parts of Rogue Sound. RS proceeds to rock the local Colorado venues and is hungry to expand their grounds coast to coast in the years to come. If you would like to express your support to Rogue Sound or have any interest in hiring them for your event or becoming a sponsor please do not hesitate to contact them at roguesound@gmail.com or visit them at www.myspace.com/roguesound. As the Colorado music scene and Rogue Sound continue to grow the band gives thanks to all that continue to support their local music communities and culture. U.N.I.T.Y. Don’t ask why.
