Members: Robert Fortune: Guitar / VOX Bass: Zach O’: Bass Mike Snyder: Drums Bio Robert Fortune is more than a name, it is a mandate. Robert's mentor and family friend, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, gave him his first guitar and at the age of 13 and sent him on the way to his 'fortune' with all the right moves and the right musical background. Born in Memphis, TN and raised outside of New Orleans, LA, Robert was bred in the path of the Blues, but it was Gibbons that introduced him to The 3 Kings - BB King, Freddy King and Albert King - encouraging him to learn their material as his rite of passage into the music industry. After using what he learned and working his way into his first record deal with Interscope at the age of 15, Robert's early material got bogged down in the major label shuffle and never saw the light of day. As soon as he was able, he extricated himself from the deal to be free to create again. From this creative process sprung original works with soul well beyond his years like "Cadillac" an anthemic ‘driving’ blues-rocker and "Turn Me Black,” a sexy slow-burn track. Fortune’s cover of Sheryl Crow’s “If It Makes You Happy” bears his noticeable mark while retaining the tone that made the original so beloved. With fans like Gibbons, Dave Grohl and Tommy Lee, Robert Fortune has a lot to live up to. One would think this would be daunting to the 19 year old prodigy. “I love writing and performing music – I just focus on that and not on writing hits or impressing people,” he says. “Some people I admire are liking what I am doing and I am grateful for that,” he adds humbly. “I can’t think about it though, or I wouldn’t be able to move forward with new material.” Getting out on the road to test out those new songs is foremost in Fortune’s mind. There have been shows where he stepped out on the stage to a puzzled crowd, but the moment he began to sing and play, all stood rapt and were instantly made into fans.
