Sunfest was an incredible experience and Opening for James Taylor was one of the greatest nights of my life so far!
When my band and I got to soundcheck, he and his band were already sound checking…we had the amazing opportunity to listen to them…they were amazing, my band knows all of James Taylor’s band members because alot of them live in Nashville, so it was incredible to be around all that positive energy.
I had a great set, after my set, James Taylor came out of his trailer, hugged me and told me i did great! I am still flying high from this night.
Thank you to all of my friends, family, and fans for supporting my music and helping me get this far. It is because of you that I am able to keep going! Lets all keep following our dreams, K?
I am posting pics from the night as I write this :)

Hello Lovely People,
I am sitting at my favorite coffee shop in Nashville, (FIDO) recounting my trip. It was awesome. Something opens up for me when i’m here and its hard to explain but i’ll try…New York is an amazing inspirational place with crazy energy..when i come to Nashville to write and record i think the more “laid-back” nature of the town gives my brain a chance to regroup. For some strange reason i have great deep conversations here.
I stayed at a house with 4 Men who are all amazing writers and performers in their own right…I slept in an aerobed in the recording studio in the basement. That was great! My favorite memory will be playing Wiffle Ball inside the house with these guys…too cool!!!
The songs I recorded I’m really excited about. The fabulous Dan Hagen produced these songs and brought in amazing players who always make me want to become a more skilled artist….One song I feel will be “for me” (Just Like That) while the other one (Wind Takes Me) will be a pitch to other artists.. I am inspired by all the writers I’m meeting :)
Also had really good sushi at Peter’s Sushi in Brentwood where while i was eating, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban walked in and went to eat at the bar…really cool that people left them alone and let them eat in peace :)
I love hearing advice from friends and my favorite recently has been…be thankful for whats happening right now. Right now…if you are always striving to get to the next thing…you’ll miss the beauty thats unfolding in front of you right now. This great journey.
yay! Risa
just an all around great experience.
Hey All!
I was out in Nashville a couple months ago recording 2 new songs… “Living For This” and “Falling into You” The fabulous producer/arranger Dan Hagen and amazing musicians had lent there talents again to my music and its sounding amazing.
I have the rough mix of both songs and I can’t stop listening to them..I think wow ..these didn’t exist yesterday morning ..and now …here are two new works of art! I keep replaying “Living For This” because I feel like its my truth right now. The song is almost like my theme song.
The first verse: This Dream of Mine is a rollercoaster ride. With its ups and downs and shaky ground, its a wonder how I keep it alive…but its all I want…its all I want to do….So I close my eyes, and I hold on tight, and I make my next move…
That is exactly what I am doing now and what I have been doing…isn’t that what we all do when we follow something we’re passionate about…just go for the ride….its crazy to hear it to music!
Also..my song “That Kinda Day” is on TV/Radio in Nashville on a commercial for Channel 2 News here in Nashville…On Thursday, when I got here…I stayed at the Hilton, got some chocolate, and sat in bed eating chocolate and waiting for the commercial to play :) When it did I jumped up and yelled “yes!” with my face covered in York Peppermint Patty.
I hope you all are doing great! I look forward to sharing these new songs with you and I thank you so much for your love and support on my crazy music journey.
