After Live Wire Choir disbanded in 1979, Richie and “The Waybacks” alumnus Chojo Jaques formed the all-acoustic band “Dirkhandle Twist” (a “dawg” music band), opening for the David Grisman Quintet in 1980. Richie played electric guitar with a variety of Country and Rock bands throughout the eighties, notably, the regional success story “The Skanksters”, touring with Bo Diddley in 1987. In the late eighties / early nineties, Richie became involved with the formation of “Pinegrass”, a progressive bluegrass/newgrass band and “The Psyclones”, touring central Europe in 1993-1996. Richie then spent some time playing sideman with such local favorites as “The Cory Heydon Band” and “The Tom Catmull Band”, recording albums with each. Richie currently performs with “The Acousticals”, “The Country Kings”, and “The Bop-A-Dips” and has released many solo albums, including: “Dog Oink” (1995), “Gulfkin” (2000), “Acousticals" (2004) “Talk to the Paw” (2005). “Lies of Love” (2006), “Glory Days” (2007), “Manic Heart” (2008). “The Sound of Her Smile” (2009) always staying true to his Country-Americana roots in all their forms.
