REVIVE THE RADIO
In late July of 2008, an Arizona alternative-rock band named Revive The Radio was born. The current lineup consists of Josh Capati (guitar/vocals), Caleb Robinson (bass/vocals/keyboard) and Kole Garcia (drums/percussion) Meeting each other in 2007, Kole and Josh went to school together in and shared a couple classes with each other. They knew each other well, but at the same time, they had their own lives separately. In that year, Kole kind of knew Caleb but Josh had never met him. Those three had no idea that Revive The Radio was in their futures. At the time, Josh was doing an acoustic guitar musical project called The Drop Dead Heartbeat. But he wanted to start a band because he was tired of doing individual stuff. Caleb himself, had a bass that he played around with….. Finally, when July of 2008 came, Josh was fed up with The Drop Dead Heartbeat. So, he turned to his other friend named Cole and asked him if he wanted to be play a role in Revive The Radio. Cole said yes to his offering. Then, Cole mentioned Caleb because they needed a bass player. Soon after they met, Cole, Caleb, and Josh were coming up with band names. They got ideas such as: The Taxi Squad (Caleb’s friend’s old band name), The Dover Demons, or The Tommy-Knockers. But, Josh disagreed with those band names… so he came up with The Radio Revives Her….. After that, Cole soon found out that he couldn’t be a part of The Radio Revives Her. Caleb and Josh needed to find someone either a drummer or a singer. Josh found Kole Reed Garcia in his percussion class. Josh thought Kole was a great drummer. So he asked him if he wanted to be the drummer. Kole of course accepted! On Their first rehearsal in Josh’s house, he found out that Kole had absolutely no skill and drum set. Josh and Caleb wanted to throw him out. But at the same time they both saw the potential in him. Weeks later, The Radio Revives Her made played their first song, “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend” which was a Ramones cover. Now, you find that video on Youtube. As time went on, all three of them realized that The Radio Revives Her is quite a mouth-full for a band name. So, they came up with Revive The Radio….. A month has passed and Josh realized that it was time for them to start playing original songs. When Josh introduce a song called “To Open My Eyes” Kole and Caleb were blown away. They quickly picked up the song and they distributed it on Youtube. Soon after, songs such as “Feeling All Alone” (now changed to “The Letter Zie”), and a song that Josh wrote in the sixth grade, “In The Past.” In November 15, 2008 Revive The Radio played their fiist show at Caleb’s 14th birthday party. That gig landed them some recognition all over their school. But at the same time that show earned them a lot of criticism especially because there was another person at their school that was promoting his band also….. Today, you can find Revive The Radio experimenting with different genres. And also, you can find them playing gigs at local places, especially this summer of 2009…..
