Preston Blackburn, better known as Rashaad, graced the world with his music at the age of four with his older sister, singing in churches and charity events across the Metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia. Influenced by his family and friends, music became apart of Rashaad’s life and sparked the admiration of one day becoming an entertainer. Rashaad’s first original song, “Meet me at the Skating Rink”, earned him a coveted spot on Apollo Kids. After blowing the crowd away at the Apollo Kids competition, Rashaad made the decision that music would become his passion and his ultimate goal was to one day receive a recording contract.Now at the age of 16, Rashaad is bigger and better than ever. Having performed all across Atlanta, showcasing his incredible smooth vocals and mesmerizing dance moves, he has made a definite impact on many and has prepared himself for the future. He has shared the stage with greats such as gospel legend Dorothy Norwood, and has received high praise from Ryan Cameron, V103 radio personality, and William Burke, who has worked with Grammy Award winners Destiny’s ChildRashaad has taken vocal lessons since the age of 10, entering the highly acclaimed Spivey Hall Children’s Choir, under the direction of Dr. Martha Shaw, which gave him a classical foundation. From there, he was taught by the best who has trained artists such as Grammy winner, Monica and England’s girl band, Mis-Teeq, just to name a few. He has taken extensive dance lessons at Dance 411 Studios, and has taken acting lessons at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. Rashaad is not only a triple threat, but a quadruple threat, armed with the skill of singing, dancing, acting, and writing.Writing for Rashaad has become a form of self expression and stress release. In 2007, Rashaad entered a competition entitled, Song of the Year, sponsored by VH-1. He sent in an original piece entitled, My Everything, which entails a male’s desire to love a woman with all his heart. Out of millions who entered around the world, Rashaad’s song, My Everything, earned him an incredible finalist position! It was a major achievement for a boy who was only fifteen at the time. This success landed him two sensational write-ups in The Clayton Neighbor and in The Atlanta Journal Constitution.Rashaad’s most recent performance entitled, 500 Songs for Kids, a charity event supporting foster and disabled children, nabbed him a third write-up in a random article on a website covering the event, praised his performance to be the best of the night. Rashaad has done many things in his life to move him along the ladder and prepare him for his ultimate goal of receiving a recording contract, which he has yet to receive. Rashaad’s style is classic R&B infused with Hip-Hop and Soul. Rashaad is not afraid to march to his own beat, the very beat that will set him up for a lifetime of success!
