Keeping the Funk Press Rollin’
Just a piano playing, stage performing, music writing, slave to the music. An Atlanta Ga. Born and bred man, started the love of music, in the same place most did, in church. Old southern baptist churches, where at the time my Great grand mother, had one of the most beautiful voices I’d ever heard, a cross between Mahalia Jackson, and Etta James, Yes I am serious. Her singing watered the seed of music for me. My Mother a Piano player, Father a trumpet player, fed me all kinds of styles and types of music. But Tennessee State University, under the direction of Benjamin Kirk, is where I really understood and really fell in love with the Funk. There ya Go.
