RADIO REPUBLIK

SOUTHFIELD, MI

Biography

It seems as though every few years in music a group will come along and re-invent the definition of their genre. This is without a doubt the case with the Motown duo Radio Republik. The group is comprised of GZuss and Marc Elliott aka Q'rona. One would instinctively believe that a pair of dominant personalities could never come together and create on a scale that's formidable with the industry's best. Those naysayers would be wrong. "We want people to realize it's OK to be creative in Hip-Hop", says Gzuss. " Everybody's just following suit, and nobody really wants to lead so we feel like we have a real role to play in this industry". Q'rona says on the current state of Hip-Hop. Gzuss invited Q'rona out to his self-owned studio in Dearborn, MI. " It was an easy choice. We had a lot in common musically and a lot more in common as far as our upbringing". Gzuss says enthusiastically. Soon after, the two began to hang out as if there had never been any other way. "Man, we would just chill and create music. Talk about music, talk fashion, movies and reflect on life. Those are the conversations that inspired our sound and shaped the songs we would bring to life"! Starting off using the name "Black Lable", [a name which gathered them over 400,000 Myspace views and a few label contacts] the group decided that they needed a new name that would impact the ever-changing world of Hip-Hop harder. Enter "Radio Republik". A name that captures the true nature of their sound and genuine feeling toward their potential listeners and fans. "We constantly reiterate the 'Republik' in our name because we do this for the people. We aim to be on your Radios, ipods, Mtv's, BET, etc. Without the support of the people we are nothing. That was a big reason for the change in name; we had to find a way to incorporate the people, our listeners into our moniker so they could relate and understand who we do this for! It's all for you [the listener]."
