July 2008

So…. We’re working on our very first music video. Its being shot on our digital camera.. haha. It’s sorta a pre-production studio diary set to one of our newest songs, Ninety Nine. We’re going to release it soon, and the video will most likely be the only way to hear the song. We don’t want to put it up untill we record the final version with Pierre.

So, look for it soon, and let us know if you like the song. Your opinions might very well change the direction of the studio verison, so please be honest!!!

Stay tuned…

PS. We’ve had to push production of the album back a little bit. We had some health scares and other setbacks that forced us to reschedule with the studio for early August. No worries, all is well, and we hope to see you at our next shows at the Skylark on July 31st, and the Grant County Fair sometime between the 14th and 17th. We’ll let you know…

April 2008

Wow. Wow. Wow…

Wow. Okay, so on the 11th we had a show at The Skylark, which is the BEST place to be on any night of the week, really. I’d say it’s my fav place to see and be seen at. Well anyways… we opened for Trip Like Animals and The Retrofits.

Once we got there and got all set up we were just hanging out. Drinking some Coors. Meeting the other bands. You know, the usual. Then Norm noticed Trip Like Animals and said, “Oh man, we cant talk to those guys.. they look too cool. Like BRMC.” By this time I’ve had at least 2 beers, so I’m feeling a little bold. So I just go over the the most cool looking guy and say, “Hey, whats up..” Haha. Those guys were sooo cool. Really. And nice. We ended up talking for a good 10 or 15 min before Lee and Norm joined me, I think they were getting jealous that I was talking to the cool kids. But those guys are the most down to earth people. I loved them.

So far in our music career I’m always happy about playing first, it takes the pressure off and you can then relax. And we def needed to relax. Mostly because it’s been harder and harder for us to practice. The last time we all played together was the last show at SureShot. So I was hoping that we wouldnt be too bad. I messed up a few times, its mostly the endings that I have the hardest time with. Since I’m a dummy when it comes to chords and rifs and junk, I dont know when we’re ending exactly. I usually go off of what L sings. But all in all we did great. We didnt quite have Buckin’ Steel or Life ready yet, which would have been rocking there. But maybe we can get then done in time for Flights. But I had a great time either way. I think I kept the beat rocking during Skeleton, and the builds on Coast. The only trouble I had was getting the tempo on One Man.

Once we finished and got to relax we met this guy from Scotland and he was just gushing over us! It’s always cool when that happens, I mean we’re from Moses where the only recon you get is if you end up in the Basin Records for geting arrested. So haveing strangers just ear to ear smiles, complementing you and buying you drinks is A-OK in my book! Once we got settled we got to hear The Retrofits, I was really excited to see them. They were great. The lead guitar was sooo good. What I really liked about them was their crowd. Those fans were really into them, like dancing and such. It was cool.

Then FINALLY Trip Like Animals came on.

Wow.

I’ve never had my socks rocked off by a local band before. I mean there were times when I was just staring up at them with my mouth hanging open in awe of them. The drummer who’s only 19 was fantastic! He reminded me so much of Lee at that age. He was going crazy, he even busted the kick head half way through the set.. but he kept it going! Jerome the bass player was rocking to the max. And to find a bass player that rocks is rare I think. Most of the time bass players look like chumps.. doing that lean they all do. Bah! Jerome was awesome. And the energy! Ahhhhh!! Its was great. The crowd was on their feet, we were right up at the stage and just haveing so much fun. Also I was super slushy, so I was having a great time. It was funny cause at one point with all the beer that people were buying us, Lee had 3 full beers in front of him. Really what did it for me was the wine Joel bought me. I was drinking that during our set. So yeah, I was trying really really hard to walk. But anyways.. TLA, they were so raw and new. I just loved it. I cant wait to see them again. I’d put them up there with Spanish for local bands that I love.

All in all, Skylark is always a great place to play. I love just going to Open Mic on Wed, Tue’s w/ Joel and just showing up to see who’s playing. I really cant say enough about the staff there. They are all great, esp Charlie. And what was cool too about the show is that our friends/family showed up. Sam, Marion and John, Lee’s cousin from Olympia, Brandon and Angie. That was cool of them.

Okay, I think that all for now. Next show is Flights… so we can only assume how that’ll go. But at least we’re getting paid and they have Coors on tap. I better a kudos for that.

over and out.
