Starr Faithfull is certainly a band to keep your eye on. The trio from Boston is bringing honest, fresh rock back to the airwaves. Drawing inspiration from such artists as the Foo Fighters, Green Day, and James Brown, the three are able to mesh several layers of powerful vocals, steady beats, and catchy riffs into an earful of orchestrated rock magnificence. Lead singer Jodee Frawlee delivers songs with pure energy and impressive vocal range, while bassist Geoff Kornfeld and drummer AJ Valee provide harmonic backing vocals and a Powerpop/Rock sound. It’s this refreshing rock sound that is making Starr Faithfull one of the hottest acts on the east coast, with their impressive tour resume including venues from Maine to Florida. Starr Faithfull has already shared the stage with some great artists including Marillion and Memphis Slim. In addition to an impressive tour resume, the band boasts 6 feature spots on National TV with their songs “Revolveround” “So Much Better” and “Funny HaHa”.

Nate Wilson Group is helping to bring the great riff-rock of previous generations back to the people. The New Hampshire band is enriched with melodic energy that transforms brilliantly into a jam band with the raw and irresistible sounds of the greats like Led Zeppelin and Cream. Band members Adam Terrell (Guitar), Tommy Lada (Bass), Nate Wilson (Keys and Vocals), and Tom Arey (Drums) have pulled musical influences from several genres and have created a sound that has earned them a reputable list of live shows, including the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, and the Bonnaroo Music festival. The band’s new album Unbound shows the groups well-rounded and complete sound and is a great preview of what Nate Wilson Group will have to offer in the New Year.

Waltham Massachusetts’s The New Underground have been around for about 4 years now. It started out with Chris, vocalist and guitarist for the band setting up a small studio in his parents basement and recording a 14 song album. After working tirelessly, playing every instrument on the album Chris employed the help of Jamal to tackle some of the drum tracks and ease his work load. They finalized their line-up in 2007 by adding Adam to play bass in,and have been playing music as The New Underground ever since. The New Underground’s indie- pop sound draws influences from all over the spectrum, Jamal’s background is in R&B, gospel, and rap, Adam’s in all things metal, and Chris’s from the rock of the 70’s and 80’s. Together they create cohesive indie-pop songs reminiscent of the 90’s rock we all love. Be sure to keep an eye out for the bands 11 song concept album “Another Year in the Dark” which is being recorded as we speak.

Radio 92.9 Ski House Band Winner: The Help

The Help are no strangers to the Boston music scene. Since forming in 1999 as middle school students, the band has made the transition from kids jamming in their parents basement into one of Bostons premiere local rock acts. Their eclectic but accessible sound has elements of the Foo Fighters and Weezer as well as some punk rock roots and funk infused grooves, which has lead them to five #1 channel prizes and two top ten finishes.

Being chosen as the Radio 92.9 Ski House Band is the most recent of many opportunities won by the Help on OurStage. Past opportunities include a performance at Radio 92.9 Earthfest in May, and Radio 92.9 City Steps in July. Congratulations to The Help and good luck this winter as the Radio 92.9 Ski House Band.
