…has cause me to speculate just a bit. My passion is (obviously) spoken word. Since I’ve been on this site, I’ve watched my numbers as well as others go up and down… which is fine. But recently I’ve noticed some really, really HOT pieces from VERY notable artists whom I personally idolize that are sooooooooo not being voted for their worth! Take, for instance, Kamal Imani… currently 24th in the spoken word category?!?!?! I mean, are you serious??! Tribal Raine is FINALLY getting the top ten recognition she deserves and I am quite irritated with the fact that Eddie Oliver’s and Anointed Poet’s awesome pieces have been bouncing around but haven’t made the top spots yet! Now, this is not a knock on anyone but common sense should tell us that (in the words of the infamous Keith Sweat) “somethin’, somethin’ just ain’t right” LOL!
I wanna say our contestants are voting dishonestly but I have more faith in OurStage’s judging system to know they must have a method to counter that type of madness. I’m sure this isn’t the first competition they’ve dealt with dishonesty in! But to top it all off, there are artists who are in the spoken word category knowing DAMNED well their piece is NOT spoken word!! A win is not considered a win if you didn’t really WIN. It’s what you do outside of this site that makes you a REAL winner… so tell me, what is that? Hmmm???? LMAO! I’m just sayin’ tho…
