Pro-GRES is an Austin Hip-Hop artist, formerly by the name of Shugga Shane. He has has been around music all his life, and always had a natural talent for coming up with drum beats and melodies. With a singer song-writer mother, Pro quickly picked up a knack to write stories to these melodies. Pro-GRES first knew he wanted to be a rapper at the age of 6, when he heard a trio of songs on the radio with his cousin. The songs were "No Diggity" "I'll be Missing You", and shockingly Mariah Carey's "Heartbreaker." He was amazed at Jay-Z's style when he came on the track. Very soon after he got a tape of "Illmatic" and played it non-stop. Pro-GRES started playing guitar at age 11 to expand his musical knowledge, and continues to this day. He was in several Hard Rock bands during his early teenage years. Though he never stopped working on his writing skills, and refining his lyrical technique. After graduating from High school in 2007, Pro-GRES took a wrong turn in life. Getting caught up in what was cool, and trying to make easy money, Shane wised up and started to better himself. He began writing music about his life experiences, and problems in the world. His good friend, Kenny "Denver" Murrill, opened a door for Shane, and blessed him with the connections to help make his dream possible. Pro-GRES also is studying drama in hopes of diversifying himself in the music and film industries, as well as in the business side of everything. He plans to not be just an artist, but a mogel like Russel Simmons, Sean Combs, Andre Young, Shawn Carter, and Marshal Mathers. His main influence is early '90's East/West Coast, and a subtle input from MoTown era with a southern style all his own. "I consider myself an artist not a Rapper, musician, or poet. I make art same as Shakesspeare, Da Vinci, Scorcessi, Elvis, and Tupac." - Pro-GRES
