"UPSTAIRS JAN" cd art
Phractured Phairytales
The powers that be over at MTV had a "great" idea for a TV show--following an aging yet photogenic rock band trying to make it in the music biz. Nikki Foust was all for it, though KrYpTiC k and Elizabeeth were concerned that it would be like 'selling one's soul to the devil.'
The producers assured them otherwise, so they agreed.
The show "Phractured Phairytales Rock (in) da House" was conceptualized as a reality sitcom a la "The Osbournes," hoping that comedy would ensue. Niki Foust, a closeted (or not so closeted?) exhibitionist started walking around nude and acting like a b*tch to get a rise out of her "co-stars."
KrYpTiC k and Elizabeeth would not play along and the show ended up being more boring than "Big Brother 3" and was cancelled after the first season.
The show's theme song, "Upstairs Jan," which was originally a meditation on alienation and social cruelty, did end up hitting MTV's top spot for a few weeks, but eventually Phractured Phairytails went the way of Eden's Crush...

I just wanted to thank you for picking my tune "I'm Goin' Down (To Grafton St)" as one of your favorites!
I sorry I missed the show on MTV (living in Ireland we only get MTV UK). Do they ever show repeats? Do you have an episode you can email me? Done a bit of TV myself and know how difficult it can be.
Anyway, thanks again and I hope to hear more from you!

SWEET QUOTE A - (and hollywood can kiss our rosie red elbows !)
we appreciate your comments AND your 'unique position' we just may be co-occupants of the same ground... in any case, hope the wheels that turn and the gears that grind at HITSOM do so productively and peacefully - blessings and peace,
Having heard that you were intrigued by my posted comment on Kryptic K's profile I thought I would leave you a cryptic comment ( pun intended). According to Miltons version of Lucifer which of course we must agree with
" it is far better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven"-Milton
but I just wanted everyone else to hear the flip [my]side of that famous quote since there can be only one ruler in hell.
" it is far better to serve in heaven than to serve in Hell"-Arioch
trust me on this one I am in a unique position to know.
Anyways congratulations to Mr Rob Hobson on making the cut and getting into the band WTG.
Sending much love and appreciation out to some really creative Rennaissance gals: kryptic, Nikki and Elizabeth!
You girls Rock!
