In times where metal is divided and spited into different sub groups and genres, and many different bands who offers their different interpretations both musically and lyrically, Phantom Pain's modern death metal dish tries to take the best of both old and traditional growls and fast paced rhythms n.. riffs, combined with the more modern sound of detuned 7 strings guitars, tempo changes and catchy grooves. as heavy and sharp as Morbid Angel, while smart and groovy as Gojira. Phantom Pain was formed back in 2004 when Dor Midlash and Adam Shattenstein met each other in Dor's music class back in Highschool. After Just one live show, Dor Started his Mandatory Service in the Army - Phantom Pain Moved into hiatus for almost 2 years. After which, Guy Bernstein Joined the band as a second Guitarist, and after joining forces, the band recorded their first official Single "Merciless". 4 Months later the band cameback on stage, and started to get back into the Israeli metal scene. In 2006 the band parted from their long time Bassist Ohad Ellert, and welcomed his replacement Assaf Wolf, who eventually left the band after a very intensive year. Asaf's replacement was Andrei Aframov (from Israeli Progressive metal Crew Inner Scream).with Andrei, the band recorded their deubt EP, named The Hypocrite, which was released in August 2008 and got positive reviews from fans and critics alike all around the metal scene. unfortunatley due to personal issues, the band parted ways with guitarist Guy Bernstein right after the release of "The Hypocrite". after about 2 months of searching Barak Kabilio, a long time friend joined the band filling Guy's spot as guitarist, the new and improved Phantom Pain debuted in a show featuring Israeli-based Prey For Nothing, Distorted, and Belgian death metal squad Aborted in the Barbie club in Tel Aviv. in 2009 Phantom Pain are working hard on newer, faster, better new material in preperations for the recordings of their first full length album sometime later this year, we hope to see you all in the shows!
