Pete Nakos is a Chicago Hip-Hop and R&B recording artist. He is a rapper, singer and lyricist and has worked with (former) Jive Records producer and current Assyrian Beat producer/singer Joe Ivanoff. Whether it’s Hip-Hop, R&B or a mix of both Pete Nakos is a unique artist with a unique sound. It was his love and appreciation for writing that really got Pete Nakos started in music. He began writing lyrics while attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. With the help of a friend and fellow rapper he put his lyrics to music and recorded his first song Exotic Lover. “When I used to hear music growing up I would memorize the lyrics and sing along to the songs. So after writing down some lyrics I was like let me see what I sound like.” As soon as it was finished Pete Nakos showed Exotic Lover to his close friends. They immediately liked it and supported him by playing the song at parties on campus. “I really need to thank my friends for giving me honest and positive feedback. Their support is what allowed me to really focus on my music.” Pete Nakos continued to write and record releasing his first single Island Girl. It gained popularity and the positive response from listeners motivated him to put more time into each aspect of his work. Despite his ability to write and rap, Pete Nakos’ heart was always in singing. While in college he took a voice class gaining encouragement from his teacher. He then began private lessons with his current voice instructor developing a vocal understanding and framework. “The incorporation of and transition to R&B is something I have always wanted” he says. “I like to be unique, so I like having the versatility to write my own lyrics, sing, and rap.” His ability to create and combine melody, rhythm and words allows him to truly express his style. He is able to connect and appeal to his audience in every dimension of the song. Pete Nakos also speaks his native language Greek, and Spanish. He sometimes uses these languages to further decorate a song and target a specific audience. Pete Nakos would eventually meet (former) Jive Records producer Joe Ivanoff. With Joe’s help and supervision Pete Nakos recorded his collaborated hit We International. At the time Joe was ready to release his new album Leh Leh W Youma. The album was delayed and Pete Nakos was added as a feature on the title track. Pete Nakos’ newest single, They Know It’s Me, is his first release containing Hip-Hop and R&B. He plans to concentrate on R&B but maintain his vocal and genre fusion.
