In early 2003, Pete started writing his own country songs and finished his first song called “The Empty Bottle.” His new style of writing led him to start his first country band, called the The Pete Best Band, which was a combination of country/rock cover’s mixing in his own originals. In the summer of 2005, with the addition of new band members and a few phone calls from an upset ex-Beatles drummer, Pete changed the name to “Peterbuilt”, which has become the local premier country band in the Annapolis/Baltimore/ Washington DC area. At that time, Best starting working with local producer, John Grant and recording/co-producing his first 7 song EP called “Drinking, Crying and Singing”, which came out in the spring of 2005. Playing local gigs in support of the new EP, started to bring more recognition to the band, which led to support from local radio station 103.1 FM, WRNR, Annapolis, MD. With live on air performances and playing the station’s sponsored shows Pete began to gain a loyal audience.Early 2006, Pete recorded 3 new songs, which included “Wendy Think”, “If I Make It” and Those I’s. This led to regional attention in management and booking agencies. In Sept. 2006, Pete made his first trip to Nashville, which led to appointments with a few labels/publishing companies, after receiving positive feedback on his material, Best spent the next couple months writing new material and expanding his song catalogue to over forty songs. With local promoters noticing Pete’s strong live performances, his band were offered direct support with country rockers Jack Ingram (Sept. 2006), Pat Green (Nov. 2006) and Trick Pony (Sept. 2007), which showcased Pete’s star qualities as a song writer and performer. His new CD will drop this spring 2008 and we are looking forward to a great future for Pete and his music! www.myspace.com/petebestcountry
