Pedro Eça was born in Angola only few months before the Portuguese revolution on 25th April 1974, and shortly after relocated to Brazil. He started to play guitar at the age of 14 and it did not take long before he began creating his own music. This self taught musician comes to Portugal just before his 18th birthday, bringing with him all the musical styles that has influenced him so far. Once in Portugal he starts to compose the first songs for this project. Always trying to improve his self-expression he decides to get stage experience by playing a large repertoire of covers in bars throughout Portugal and France. Playing rock/pop, reggae, ska, bossa nova as well as other styles, never forgetting to work on his own compositions and staying true to the plan of releasing his own project one day. At the age of 27 he meets Israel Cestinho, Hugo Florêncio and El Pavoni, and with them he starts to work on the arrangements and orquestration of his songs. Later on, Zéquinha, Filipe Valentim and Eddy Gondim join the band, since then the project has grown further. When recording their fist demo they meet Claudio Nunes (Corvos), Tiago Flores (Corvos) and Luis Pinto, and slowly the ensemble grows. During the recording of the CD they meet Miguel Gonçalves, Antonio Morais and Ruben Santos, last but not the least, whilst still recording, they had the honour of inviting musicians like Mr. Abilio Caseiro (Portuguese guitar), the voices of Diana Freire and the producer Marco Jung to join in. When asked about his songs, Pedro Eça says that his objective is to pass pertinent messages of the true actuality of our society. Talking about realities that are common to all of us, but in a way ignored because we are afraid of looking in the mirror and expressing these points of view. Based on the reflection of his own experiences, he takes us on a journey of life itself. With an eclectic approach, from funk to bossa nova, Pedro Eça e os Franco Atiradores travels through fusion music with a groovy rhythmic section followed by a horn-section that deserves the designation of Big Band.
