Chicago-based singer-songwriter Paint creates songs that mix a traditional pop structure with an experimental aesthetic. “Nocturne,” with a driving military drum beat and a dulcimer sample, reaches an anxious high with a theramin solo. “Monday Nights” is about how the breeding patterns of fireflies can be a memento mori. "The Tyger, " inspired by William Blake is a medieval rumination of the beyond. “Esuna,” the title track from Paint’s debut self-produced album, uses dead man’s tuning to manage a call to arms, while “La Fin d’Octobre” is a french ghost story of dead lovers.
