“I am a musician and an artist. I try to present an autonomous package of who I am and how I interpret the world - lyrically, musically and artistically. My goal is to make a positive contribution to the world - whether it be through social commentary or by merely presenting music/art that someone can identify with. I write songs from inspiration. Some of my songs were inspired by life in Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles. Other songs include “Garden of Remembrance”, which is a tribute to the victims of September 11th; “Craig’s List” (a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ song about online dating); “Ode to a dog” (dedicated to all dogs), and two sonnets (Yeats and Shelley) put to music. “I never meant to change you” is inspired in part by a chapter in Kahlil Gibran's book "The Prophet"; “Lay down your arms” is a plea for peace; “Gratefully” is a song about loss; “When I was old” has lyrics written by my Mom. I am South African and I live in Los Angeles. I play anywhere from small coffee shops to festivals of 10,000 or more.” Recent Awards: Honourable Mention in 16th annual Billboard World Song Contest for "Make it up to you" (co-written with Jorgen Carlsson); Honourable Mention for Mike Pinder’s (Moody Blues) Songwars 2009 contest; "Suggested Artist" in the December 2007 round of the Song of the Year song and lyric competition; Featured Artist in the Indie Artists Alliance 2007 Songwriters and Storytellers Compilation Contest; Honourable Mention winner for 2006 Peacedriven Songwriting Award; Honourable Mention for 2006 Singer/Songwriter Awards “We are Listening” Round 2; Honourable Mention Billboard Songwriting contest for "Dust on Dust"; obtained position #110 with “Lay down your arms” on Neil Young’s “Living With War” website; received Gold Auddy Award on uplaya.com for “Craig’s List”.
