Bio: “Is there a heart in the house tonight? Stand up! Stand up. Let me know….Let me know…..You’ve got to have love….” Belting out lyrics from the Five Heartbeats “House Made of Love”, R&B sensation, Ment2B has audiences questioning who should have originally sang the song, as the show stoppers have clearly made it their own. The homegrown talent from Pine Bluff, Arkansas may only have three members: Brannon, Jermon, and Danny, but they have millions of hearts beating around the world. Brothers Brannon and Jermon Smith have been singing as a group with long-time childhood friend, Danny Sims since grade school. Equally talented and all capable of singing lead, the power house, known as Ment2B, has fans everywhere forgetting to breath. Commanding the stage, the raw, soulful harmonization of the trio singing acapella seems to make time stand still. With a crowd in shock and awe, Ment2B glides across the stage with smooth, charismatic dance moves in unison, giving flashbacks to days long before the cliché of “Boy Bands”, when choreography went hand in hand with doo wop. Reminiscent of those doo-wop days, Ment2B sends fans into a frenzy, blending styles of other genres like pop, rap, country, hip hop, and rock-even introducing an electric guitar. “Heart Made of Stone” is the group’s newest single soon to be released, and fuses together rock, pop, hip hop, and r&b soul. “These brothers can sang. There are some folks that can sing and some folks that can flat out SAAANNG,” words spoken by Power 92.3’s radio programmer, Broadway Joe out of Arkansas as Ment2B took the stage. Blazing the airwaves in their home state, their hit single, “Stay” was the number one requested song and broadened their fan base, sending several of their songs from their self-titled Album, Ment2B to gain spins in many other states. Growing up in a “House Made of Love,” with family and friends supporting every strategic move helped push the unsigned artists to overcome any bumps and bruises felt along the way. The future CEO’s foundation has never faltered, proving they are in it for the long haul. More than a career, music is their way of life. With music pulsating through their veins right though the fingertips that play the guitar, keyboard, and drums. The all-in–one package writes and produces their music, too. Like flipping a switch, Ment2B can sing acapella at any given moment, transforming a street corner or parking lot into a stage. Fumbling in pockets and purses for cell phones and cameras, onlookers are drawn, in hopes of catching a glimpse of the next phenomenon to hit the airwaves. The group used this same strategy at the Essence Festival many years ago, singing to every car that passed by, landing them an opportunity to move to New York and perform at places like the Apollo and the Soul Café. Competing at the Apollo, they were nominated runners up next to Lyfe Jennings. Having opened for major artists like the Isley Brothers, Ne-yo, Nelly, and the late Gerald Levert, Ment2B has proven that they can hold their own. The band of brothers showed fans they could switch things up when they moved to Texas and recorded their new single, “Lock Me Up,” featuring platinum recording artist and rapper, Dorrough. Currently working on new music and perfecting older tracks, the group has a fresh new image and sound ready to be introduced to the world. In reaction to fans surprised that the multi-talented artists have not been signed, the only answer to give is that it has not been the right time. Call it destiny or call it fate, the name says it all. They are Ment2B and when the timing is right, the world will know. Until then, they will continue to build hearts filled with love for them and their music as new fans continue to stand up all over the world.
