About meLLo Muzik

Portrait of meLLo Muzik

Michael “meLLo” Petrosino, is a Chicago born songwriter and music producer. meLLo stands out amongst the city’s numerous up and coming unsigned talents. His fresh sound and originality have been appealing to a growing number of fans around the Chicagoland area. His versatility is what sets him apart from the rest. He has appeared & performed at promotional tours, galas, downtown nightclubs, local bars, & block parties. He raps, writes, and produces his own music, yet he also has a list of collaborations completed with both vocalists and producers. Currently, meLLo is looking to solidify a major distribution deal in hopes of releasing his freshman album and furthering his career.

meLLo found himself performing at the LeBron James “More Than A Game” (Lions Gate) promotional tour in the summer of ’09. The event was sponsored by Nike, and the performances were headlined by the GS Boyz. That event helped him solidify relationships with many people in the entertainment industry. He was invited to a Vision Films gala to meet with the executives about hosting him on Visionfilms.tv. Shortly thereafter, he performed at both the Monroe & Wilcox festivals for the “Peace in the Hood” movement orchestrated by The Black Star Project. Promotion companies, known as Over Drive Chicago, Pulse Chicago, Famouz Music, & N.W.T., brought meLLo in to perform at well known nightclubs, such as Ontourage, located in the heart of downtown.

Born and raised in Chicago in the mid 80’s, meLLo took up music in the early stages of his life. He grew up to financial struggles and part of that experience helps push him even harder to achieve his goals. His aspirations of becoming an artist were fueled by the likes of legendary stars such as Michael Jackson and Tupac Shakur. Turntables and vinyl records are the claim to the beginning of his career. It wasn’t until about the age of 17 that meLLo officially began recording what had been piling up from the pen and the pad. Formerly known for spinning records at community events, he followed his gut instinct and built a pre-production studio. From there his passion for beat making and song writing took on full stride.

meLLo formed a hip hop duo known as The Womb shortly after the new millennium, but they didn’t make much noise in the hip hop community. However, they caught the attention of Kiloton Entertainment & Grand Jury Records, which were both based in Los Angeles. Both members of the band went their separate ways to explore their own opportunities after about 4 years of working together.

By the summer of ‘08, meLLo had finally set out in pursuit of his solo career. He partnered up with his previous manager, John B, and they immediately formed a production house named Mello Muzik. The two of them combined past intuition of music and business while spending countless hours in the studio. They have been working with a Latin songwriter named Noe Pereda for the past 3 years. meLLo has collaborated with up & coming producers all across the nation such as RNS, Globetrakkerz, & Dante D’Vino. The internet community gave positive feedback when meLLo was recently featured on pop artist Raffinae K.’s “Broken Promises”.

meLLo’s stage presence keeps his fans aware that he is by no means short on swagger. The future is bright for an artist that is as talented, driven, and humble as he has clearly proven to be. The plan is for meLLo to release his freshman album, which will be dedicated to the producers featured in his projects. He has recently linked up with a highly touted prospect named D-Minor. This Los Angeles R&B talent is known for songwriting and stunning live performances. Lookout for collaborations by meLLo & D-Minor in the near future and stay posted for upcoming track releases. Until then, be sure to visit www.meLLomuzik.com and enjoy the art!
