www.mekenziezimmerman.com Mekenzie Zimmerman is a 22 year old independent musician from Woodstock Ga. From a young age Mekenzie's mom got her interested in music by listening to bands like ELO, Bee Gees, and the Beatles. Mekenzie started playing the piano on her own at age 9, tried lessons at age 11 but even now plays mostly by ear. She picked up guitar at age 13 with some help from her uncle Vic Valmus who plays in the band Shyanne around the Atlanta area. Mekenzie wrote her first song at age 13 titled "Blue Eyes". The song was inspired by a boy in her class which started a trend in her songwriting that continues on today. Mekenzie's current musical inspiration includes Butch Walker, Coldplay and Stevie Nicks. Her musical accomplishments include 2003 Woodstock High School Talent Show Winner, 2005 Most Talented Girl for Senior Superlatives, and Runner Up in Star 94's Atlanta Idol. She has recorded two demos, one in 2005 Produced by Lain Livingston titled "Where I Stand" and the other recently recorded in 2008 Produced by Michael Phelan titled "Basement Sessions". Mekenzie currently is in the studio recording her self-released debut album "Taking Flight" with Hubie Moon. Mekenzie would like to thank all of her family, friends, and fans for their support.
