Marty Q Bio Marty Q, saxophonist / singer / songwriter, born and raised in CT has been on the National music scene for only a few years and put out his first National Release titled “Table for 2” in Jan. 2010. After Marty stamped his sweet soprano sax sound on "My Girl" on Shanachie Records compilation CD titled "Smooth Jazz Plays Motown's Favorite Love Songs" Marty teamed up with the producer Chris "Big Dog" Davis to do his own project titled “Table For 2”. A lush CD with a blend of melodic tunes featuring Marty's signature angelic soprano sax and some very flavorful tenor expressions too. Growing up the youngest of 7 children Marty was influenced by all styles of Music, mainly Jazz, R&B and Rock. Marty played clarinet and drums at an early age of 6 years old. It wasn't until High School that Marty played sax. Marty throughout High School and college played in clubs drumming and singing and did some studio work as well. It wasn't until Marty broke his arm and couldn't play drums that he came out front to sing and play sax. Once out there being a front man he was there to stay. The great musical twist to Marty's live show is that he can carry the show vocally as well. He'll take on a Marvin Gaye tune and sing it like it's nobody's business and then mesmerize the audience with a sax solo that will work the crowd into a frenzy. Marty Q’s live show is always satisfying because Marty is versatile while playing alto, tenor and soprano sax along with his soulful vocals. He ranges from straight ahead jazz "Take Five" to the most simplest of melodies such as "Chain of Fools" off his new release. To date Marty Q has sold 25,000 CD’s and downloads combined as an independent artist. "Only a few guys in the business play that sweet soft tone on soprano" - Chris "Big Dog" Davis - "Marty's tone is Superior" - Neil Reshen (former mgr. of Miles Davis)
