I love to sing, makes me feel good all over!
I began my career as a dancer then turned to singing. After traveling for some years doing a one woman show in the Caribbean and Far East, I made the big move to Paris, France. Music is my pleasure and my livelihood. In France I starred in the famed, Folies Bergere for two years—-a strange landing place for a jazz singer. My idea of singing my own style of gospel took me into hundreds of churches around France. A few years ago I started songwriting. It’s tricky not playing an instrument but I’ve got the music in my head. As singing influences, Sarah Vaughn, Carmen MacCrae and Nancy Wilson are the singers I’ve always admired and bits of each show in my work. Their flexibility and talent for making each song they sang their own make them role models worthy of the name. As a gospel singer, Mahalia Jackson is still a hands down favorite. I’m a mix of all that but some who know me are also fans of Tracy Chapman. Go figure that one out.
