Magnus Hitch is a band committed to fusing the ideals of vintage psychedelic and progressive rock with a modern post-rock attitude and a devotion to manipulating technology to enrich the sonic landscape. All of these elements are combined with a deep respect for jazz fusion musicianship and truly prolific song writing to create an original blend of influence and music. The group’s heady progressive psyche rock pulls heavily from the acid-inspired rock of back in the day but also culls plenty from the new wave scene. And it’s all wrapped up in a post-modern sound that bends time and space and even features a dollop of pop accessibility. “Nothing to Hide” is a fuzzed-out but focused batch of psyche energy that brings all the band’s major influences to bear under their artistic magnifying glass. Earnest and edgy and a transcending trip through rock, “Nothing to Hide” is a hip-yet-brainy musical excursion. But this is only the beginning. The album as a whole is a journey, with many aural secrets to be revealed along the way. The first meeting of Dave Farina and David Powell planted the seeds for what would become Magnus Hitch. After jam sessions and much discussion, the collaboration bore fruit based on the realization that both artists were on the same page. A bassist was sought out, material was put together and the shows began. A little line-up tinkering followed and now the group is complete with Dave, David and Paul Hiller on bass. The band has played a number of prominent Northern California venues and is currently working with A&R Select, the world’s leading independent artist development firm, based out of Los Angeles, CA.
