MEANS BIO Born 1987 (Age 24) Cincinnati, OH During a time when hip-hop music comes in all shades and colors, Cincinnati artist MEANS, 24, (Lawrence Cameron) has ambition of being the brightest of them all. In a market where hip-hop fans are still waiting to claim there own first major artist, Means is more than ready to take on the challenge. Despite the constantly changing face of rap music and its competitive nature, Means stands confident in his chances of reaching the masses. Born to Earlene Newton (mother) along with 3 siblings right in the heart of the Queen City, known as “Over the Rhine” Means has always been surrounded by good music. Following hip-hop since age 8, Means took his leap onto the local rap scene writing his first song at age 11. At the start of it all, making music was only cool because his older cousin did it but after a few studio sessions Means relationship with the mic was unbreakable. “It has been a goal of mine to have a successful career in music ever since recording that first song in ‘98. “Though a bit cliché, artist such as B.I.G, LL Cool J and 2Pac made the dream seem attainable, they too came from broken homes in the hood”. During the early 2000’s MEANS became a local’s favorite with his ability to shred older rappers in the city’s weekly rap battles. By the time he was 14, Means had several Ohio record labels after his signature but he choose to do work with The Attic Boys of Kentucky (PG Records). After 3 albums and a jail sentence for the CEO of the label Means took his show solo at age 16, and it has been that way ever since. While a member of PG Records Means never let their constant travel infringe on his studies. He was a good rapper and an even better student. “Though I sold drugs as a teen to keep fresh and keep money in the household I never missed a day of school. My competitive side that fans will see in my lyrics is what kept me at the top of all my classes”. Understanding that the music industry can be challenging to infiltrate for even the most talented artist, Means carried his studies over from Dater High to Miami University (Oxford), which became a very solid plan B. During his junior and senior years at MU Means graced every campus event with his music, which created a new fan base. As the journey precedes the movement calls for Cameron to use connections made as a student as well as his marketing degree to market his own product. With his passionate tone, real story, and creative word play it is Mean’s goal to give music fans across the world a “fresh listen”. The goal isn’t to make one hot song for this artist but to have a long-lived career in the industry. With his upcoming project “Can’t Rush Perfection” Produced by Kill Will currently in production, fans across the world are in store for music they can believe in, music that’s a soundtrack to life. “I want to deeply root my name in the soils of the game. The CRP project has more life to it than previous ones. Each piece is a song and not just hot verses. This will be the one that wins them over. “They will know that I am the only hip-hop store that they can go to, to get this type of product- feel me?” Mean’s last project “I’m Coming (2006) left fans throughout Ohio wanting more, so this is round two and more is what they will get.
