LYRiCAL BIOGRAPHY: As a lyricist first, the name "Lyrical" says it all. He is more than just a lyricist however, as he is known as one of the most well-respected names in the New England Hip Hop scene. He has over 50 published songs, including releases that have topped national college charts, such as "The Focuz Is Back" or classics like "Butta Messenga" with his former group X-Caliber and "Salt" as part of Invasion. Lyrical has been instrumental in promoting shows in the Boston area, holding numerous residencies and booking concerts at all the major venues that now welcome Hip Hop. Lyrical and other executives of the Mass Industry Committee spearheaded the historic and highly acclaimed M.I.C. Hip Hop Awards, est. 2006. He has won numerous freestyle/MC battles, and still hosts and competes in as many as his schedule allows. In addition to his work as an artist, Lyrical is contracted as an adjunct professor by many Boston area colleges, lecturing on subjects ranging from Hip Hop to Statistics. This lead to the creation of The College Project (Through the Eyes of Pupils), an album featuring only Lyrical's students as the guest artists, producers, engineers and more on the project. The well received album continues to gain interest with every performance and is even played regularly on commercial radio in Michigan on 98.3 The CoastFM; it may be used as the curriculum of a future course Lyrical intends to teach. Lyrical travels to schools and events to perform and speak on many issues which are important to him; he is one of the more sought after speakers on topics concerning education, music, or bridging gaps in the community. He was hired to write the business plan for the Alternative Program at Lowell High where he taught math and business for 6 years. A native of Lowell, he earned a BS in Business Administration (Marketing/Econ.), and after moving to Cambridge finished his MS in Mathematics from UMass-Lowell while taking his last 3 courses for his degree at Harvard. He was a vital member of Mayor Menino’s “Hip Hop Round Table” and part of several City of Boston Peace Fests, opening for artists like Big Daddy Kane and Rakim along the way. As a teacher, businessman and artist Lyrical is highly involved in many of the events helping shape the face of Hip Hop culture and urban entertainment in Massachusetts. He will be featured on Animal Planet's "Dogs 101", October 14th, 2009.
