Lowtech Army is a 3-piece band from Wilmington, NC whose original music blends funk, reggae, and fusion influences with a solid core of rock. The band has been described in the Star News “Top Shows” column as a band “whose music is a collision rock and funk with hints of jam bands and even reggae…Though it leans more towards traditional rock it’s filled with a hefty amount of groove.” While Lowtech Army’s main focus is sharing their original music, they pepper sets with a selection of cover songs from bands including: Talking Heads, Jane’s Addiction, Widespread Panic, Nirvana, Stealers Wheel, The Rolling Stones, etc. The band formed in 2008, and has recorded two CDs: “Funck You” (2010) and “Justifying Crazy” (2011) with original bass player Andy Hauge. Alex Goodell (bass) joined Lowtech Army in February 2012 and since then the band has entertained crowds at local venues including: The Whiskey, The Last Resort, The SeaWitch, The Soapbox, The Calico Room, Firebelly Lounge, Fibber’s Public House, and Hell’s Kitchen. Lowtech Army greatly appreciates the venues that give them the opportunity to share their music, and the support of their fans, and looks forward to sharing their music with even more people in 2013! Lowtech Army is: Andy Funck- Lead Guitar, Lead Vocals  Andy is Lowtech Army’s frontman. He writes the lyrics and melodies, and his lead guitar work expresses his unique creativity and soulfulness. …and his name is Funck, so you know it’s gonna be funcky! Prior to forming Lowtech Army, Andy played in the Wilmington band “Humchuck Fire.” Jake Stiers- Drums, Vocals Jake is Lowtech Army’s rhythm meister. His versatility on the kit, percussion, and kazoo keep the tunes groovin’. Prior to forming Lowtech Army, Jake played with Wilmington bands “After School Special,” and “Escape.” Alex Goodell- Bass, Vocals Alex brings the funky and smooth bass work, and together with Jake, this rhythm section lays down the groove. Alex is a relatively recent transplant to Wilmington, and prior to joining Lowtech Army, Alex played with Wilmington band “The Beachbilly Brothers.” She is a graduate of Musicians Institute, and prior to relocating to NC played in the CA classic rock cover band “Triple Junction” and was a Hound Dog with “Elvis and the Hound Dogs.”  Lowtech Army’s influences include: Widespread Panic, The Grateful Dead, Phish, Ween, Pink Floyd, Egberto Gismonti, Steely Dan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Talking Heads, and many more.
