Atlanta power-pop-rockers Love Rush hit Atlanta in early 2007, and the timing was right as they quickly developed a following in the Atlanta scene. The trio, masterminded by brothers Erath and Sean Old, quickly rushed to release a live EP to meet the growing demand of their fans. While their live show was building a following around the southeast, their website was attracting fans from Europe, Asia, and around the world. It’s little wonder why they have struck such a chord with rock fans everywhere. Frontman Erath’s autobiographical lyrics are drenched in life, love, and what he calls “the pressures of youth,” themes familiar to fans both young and old. Sean goes on to say, "Love Rush is about the reality of youth and the young at heart. Instead of writing about the rock star lifestyle, we talk about the normal, day to day emotions that people think and feel, but rarely find songs to relate them to."Love Rush roots Erath’s emotive lyrics in arrangements that pay homage to classic glam and power-pop of the late 70’s and early 80’s that has even the most jaded appreciating crafting and guitar work.Though their sound is a modern twist on Cheap Trick, T.Rex, Rick Springfield, and The Cars. Erath works to pin down their biggest influences. He concedes that their influences are probably best summed up as “big hair and loud guitars” but explains, “It’s really more a collection of a bunch of songs, whatever said something to me. It’s not just one genre or sound… It’s all about proving ourselves as tools for the music, making the song reach people emotionally while still being fun and off the cuff because most people want a soundtrack to a night out. We can do that.”The boys are in the studio putting the finishing touches on an album that’s sure to feature tracks seemingly tailor made for a night out, such as “Take Me Home.” With it’s heavy guitar sound and driving chorus it ‘s all but guaranteed to get crowds pumping their fists and chanting the chorus’s “Take me home tonight!” The boys’ standout track is probably fan favorite “Do What You Want To”. The songs commentary on repressing one’s true self sums up what every angsty teenager wants to hear, “You don’t have to/come on, come on/it’s your life/do what you want to/say what you want to.” Message aside, catchy lyrics and a serious hook make it impossible to not get stuck in your head. Not to ignore emotions brought on by relationships and crushes, Love Rush provides power ballad lyrics that will make any girl swoon with admiration. Lines like “I want you/the way that you are/the way you had me right from the start” show that Erath’s songwriting can move beyond the party anthem to reach out and touch the heartstrings of any fan that has been touched by a past relationship. With inspired songwriting that stays true to those emotions felt by so many of their fans, the boys of Love Rush support these songs with an energetic and heartfelt live performance that brings the fun and emotion of the songs to life. This is a show not to be missed by any fan of a good time.
