Every so often an artist comes across the pond transcending genres and bringing a uniquely soulful sound to the forefront of music from amongst the noise. Louise Browne embodies that instance with an emotive sound reminiscent of the legends who inspired her. Her honest songwriting and classic musicianship lend themselves well to her mix of Indie, alternative and folk guitar sounds, often evoking an eclectic mix of 60s and 70s vocal rock influences. The singer/songwriter/guitarist constantly pours earnest lyrics through her commanding and distinctive vocals on mellow tracks like “Bad Intentions” and debut single “Again.” Born and raised in London, England, Browne journeyed to the US in 2010 on a quest to expand her music and take her career to its next plateau. In her short time living the states, she’s assimilated into New York’s music scene frequenting recording studios, as well as stages like NYC’s legendary Bitter End, and National Underground. Coming from a musical family, it’s no surprise that Browne became such a gifted musician, but as she shares, her multicultural background hasn’t stopped her from defying norms and remaining true to a sound and artistry all her own. "I don’t like to place my music in a box,” says Browne; “That would only limit my potential as an artist to create music." It was at age 10 that she began singing in the church choir, which first nurtured her passion for music. Through the adversities of her youth, the music became her escape, and iconic women artists like Alanis Morissette, Janis Joplin, and Joni Mitchell inspired her creativity. At 12-years-old Browne developed her songwriting abilities, and within a few years, took up playing guitar. Browne’s artistry has now developed into a world class sound generating the kind of buzz that has the makings of stardom written all over it. Fans from all walks have taken to Louise Browne’s music at some of the best testing grounds in New York City and beyond. From soul music lovers, to rockers and pop fans, Browne’s relatable messages, spellbinding stage presence, and undeniable voice are already leaving audiences hungry for a full release from the newcomer. Whether she’s melancholy and romantic, or wry and honest, critics and fans alike are agreeing that Browne’s music has the depth and power to take us through the all motions that make music the soundtrack to our lives.
