March 2009

Raf on Kompoz.com posted this in a blog and I wanted to share it with all of you because I thought it was pretty fricken SWEET! :)

“What you’re about to see is a mix of unrelated YouTube videos/clips edited together. It’s pretty amazing. Kutiman spent 3 months in his bedroom splicing and dicing over one hundred videos for samples of singers and instruments — from guitars, pianos, drums and harps, to synthesizers, a bouzouki and even a cash register.”

I would like to clear something up. It has been brought to my attention that people think it is unfair of me and others to have a band page and a personal music page. Here are my intentions and opinions on the matter which you may agree with, or not. In no way was it my intention to offend or appear dishonest.

I found Ourstage close to a year ago made an account under LittleLisa03 and was excited to enter Music I’ve worked on and get it heard. So I entered my personal music along with my bands music (Lucid Abyss) and collaborations I’ve made with others on Kompoz.com

Lucid Abyss is a band I’m in but because I entered it into competition along with my personal music and collaborations I kind of took the role of managing the bands music because it was being entered into competition under my page called LittleLisa03.

I had my bands music on my PERSONAL page and wanted to get the music heard to see what kinds of response we would get from others before we decided to make a CD and as a result, my personal music and collaborations were getting put on the back burner with minimal or no feedback so I decided I would make this new page (LittleLisaMusic) for my personal music and turn LittleLisa03 page into Lucid Abyss page.

It has been brought to my attention that others view this decision as dishonest because Ourstage is a competition and to them it may appear that I’m making multiple sites to vote up my music and enter more each month. Let me assure you that this was NOT my intention. However, I can see how it could appear that way.

Because Tyler and I have a band called Lucid Abyss should all our music (LittleLisaMusic[my music], States Of The Mind[tyler’s music], and Lucid Abyss’s music be crammed on one site and if so…what would the name of the page be to represent our completely different projects fairly?

I don’t agree with making a new site for every collaboration someone does…if that were the case, I would have over 50 sites on here…but when someone has a more than one band that they’re in I see no problem with having a separate page.

I realize that Ourstage is a competition site but for me the only reason I care about my “ranking” is just as a way of getting feedback on that song to see which songs ppl connect with. I could care less about “winning” for the prize and care more about winning the respect and feedback of other musicians and fans.

For an artist to get their music heard on Ourstage it needs to be in competition. If not, the plays, exposure, and feedback an artist gets are minimal if none.

PLEASE comment your opinions even if you don’t agree with me.
