The Brooklyn based emcee is a student of Hip-Hop music and Hip-Hop culture. He started rhyming at the age of 15 while in high school with his friends. During those years, he gained an affinity for artists with deep lyrical content and creativity. A fan of all music especially hip- hop, rock and Jazz, lerix developed a style of music that's both creative and thought provoking. After a few years of recording with many underground artists and building relationships in the music scene, he had gained the opportunity to meet with record execs to talk about releasing great music under their label. Unfortunately the labels had different plans for his career. They wanted to cash in on the more watered down Hip-Hop that was becoming popular. Many meetings had passed and ended all the same. "Were looking for someone with more street appeal." "Do you have more party songs?" "Your very talented but not quite what were looking for." It didn't take long before the business end of the music industry pushed him into giving up rather than compromising his art and personal beliefs. The years spent out of the scene gave him the opportunity to grow up and gain new perspectives on life. Although he was not recording, lerix still continued writing, be it songs, poetry or fiction, anything involving writing he did. After about 4 years of trying to find a new career, the frustration had helped him come to the realization that music was the only thing he was passionate about. He decided to get back into recording and the timing was perfect. He linked up with long time friends and fellow artists, Thirsty McGurk, H. Dinero and Zero1, who were collaborating to form an indie label "the Bloq. Association music group." Lerix was invited to join and has been working with them ever since. Lerix will be featured on Thirsty McGurks mixtape "A nightmare on your street vol 1." dropping June 24th Lerix will be dropping his own mixtape titled "Its a (w)rap!" in July
